Spiritualism
is a religion as well as a philosophy that teaches us the science of right
living and right thinking. We believe that "whatsoever a man/woman soweth that
shall they also reap." This means that "whatever humankind sends out in
thought, word or deed will return to them." We believe that fear must be erased
from the consciousness. It is our only enemy - fear of lack, fear of failure,
fear of sickness, fear of loss, and feeling insecurity on some plane. We
believe that the body can be renewed and transformed through spiritual healing,
faith and right thinking. We further believe that God is the source of our
supply and that we can receive all that belongs to us by Divine
Right.

The Church of
Divine Inspiration is a Christian Spiritualist church established in 1923, in
Rochester, New York. Many have entered through its doors discovering an
at-one-ment with God that embraces a philosophy of love and joy as set forth in
the scriptures. The church provides an environment for learning to those who
seek spiritual substance in their search for that "deeper something," life's
most personal and meaningful treasures.
As the church progresses toward
the "Golden Age of Spiritual Enlightenment" in the 21st century, we will
continue to be a "Place of Light." The church teaches the spiritual wisdom of
the sacred ages, those same principles Jesus taught to His disciples. These
concepts allow us to express our hidden potentials of our God consciousness and
to accept full responsibility for our true spiritual self.
The basic foundation of the church is to serve as a
spiritual center of enlightenment, where people can receive healing of the
body, mind, and soul. The journey within helps us to organize on a new level,
harmonized with the eternal higher truths of the Christ Consciousness, which
have endured throughout time. It is through this Christ Spirit that we unfold
spiritually and begin to master a pathway of light through the help of the Holy
Spirit. |
 |
| Once we begin to accept the inheritance as promised us in the
scripture, we understand and perceive the divine plan including birth, death
and our soul's progression now and in the afterlife. |

Christian Spiritualism is a sect of Christianity with a belief in God
the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. We have no dogmas or creeds
because the emphasis is on the essential truths as brought forth by the
scriptures. We have at the base of our foundation a set of
principles...
|
- We believe
in God.
- We believe
in the oneness of humankind.
- We believe
in the immortality of the soul.
- We believe
that the phenomena of nature, both physical and spiritual are the expression of
God.
- We affirm
that a correct understanding of such expression and living in accordance
therewith constitute true religion, enabling one to inherit all goodness,
happiness, joy and peace.
|
- We believe
that angels are ministering spirits (Hebrews 1:14)
- We affirm
the moral responsibility of the individual and that he/she make their own
happiness or unhappiness as they obey or disobey God's natural and as well as
spiritual laws.
- We affirm
that the doorway to reformation is never closed against any human soul here or
hereafter.

These principles are
reinforced in our weekly devotional services. However, in addition to the
scheduled church services, emphasis is placed on the individual developing
spiritual growth on a daily basis. It is our acceptance of God as a working
element in our lives that brings us the many blessings which are promised
(Matthew V1:33). God has given us the gifts of wisdom, knowledge, faith,
healing, prophecy, discerning of spirits, speaking in tongues, and the
interpretation of tongues (ICor:12). Jesus taught us by His example, that we
too can develop the gifts of the spirit.

Jesus healed
many during the time he walked the earth. He also showed us that we can heal
ourselves.
"Then the woman seeing that she was detected, came
trembling and fell at His feet. In the presence of the multitude, she explained
why she had touched Him and how she had been cured instantly. Jesus said to
her, "daughter your faith has healed you. Go in Peace." (Luke 8:43-49).

Mediumship is
the gift of prophecy. Throughout the Old and the New Testaments, God has always
communicated to His people through mediumship. This communication manifested
through many forms; angels, visions, the "so called Dead" or dreams. The birth
of Jesus and John the Baptist were prophesized. John the Baptist prophesized
the coming of the Messiah (John I:6-9). Mediumship is acknowledged through
"supernatural" and "miraculous" happenings, upon which most, if not all
Christian teachings are based.
|
 |
| This is the greatest gift given to us. Often dismissed by other
religions as being only for the chosen, or believed by so many that we live
once and then die and are forever gone. Jesus spoke of the gift of everlasting
life as not only a promise but as our inheritance (John 5:39). Not only was the
evidence of this shown to the apostles with the transfiguration of Christ,
Elias, and Moses (Matthew 14:1-13), but through the resurrection of Christ
after the Crucifixion. |
 |
It
is through the teachings of Jesus that we are guided to accept the blessings of
Father/Mother God, the gifts of the Holy Spirit, to look within ourselves and
to the God within us, and to recognize the God within all
creation.
